When my fiance and I began talking about our wedding, we both wanted to incorporate a traditional ritual commemorating our african-american heritage. We had both heard about the "Jumping the Broom" ritual, but neither of us had ever witnessed it or read any information (other than Alex Haley's "Roots") I found this book at a House of Nubian. It was marvelous, not only for the information of the ritual, but also as a wedding planner and marriage preparation guide. I highly recommend this book as REQUIRED reading for any African-American couple contemplating marriage.
Jumping the Broom presents hundreds of original ideas for enhancing your wedding with Afrocentric touches at every stage

Enoch, the Ethiopian, Patriarch and Prophet, Greater than Abraham, Holier than Moses, is the first perfect human being in the Bible and the first ~ man according to Moses the lawgiver. (Gen. 5:18, 22, 24) And yet he has been kept a secret until the printing of this revealing book.
The Bible states that only three men ascended body, mind and soul into heaven. Enoch was the first. Elijah was the second and Jesus Christ was the third. Enoch, however is
unique. He was the first to have both walked with, and to have ascended into heaven
without experiencing death. Enoch lived such a righteous life that he did not die.
Enoch, the son of Jared, the seventh seed of Adam, the great grandfather of Noah, father of Methuselah This prophetic man, an outstanding spiritual leader before the Biblical flood, is the most towering biblical character in history whose flawless credentials and heavenly achievements are recounted by Moses.
The greatest Biblical revelation since the discovery of the dead sea scrolls.
This book's basic theme is that many of us seem to be waiting for a messiah to return on wings and silver clouds to rescue us from our decadent plight. The fact is that the Creator has given us creative intelligence to liberate our own condition.
Since he has given us the creative intelligence to save ourselves, he will likely not return to save us. If we await his return before doing something about our own situation, we will find ourselves in the same position as the North and South American Indians, as well as some other groups who had a similar myth in their folklore about a white-bearded god who would return to liberate their condition. This god has never returned and is unlikely that he ever will. Paperback - 119 pages
The first and second books of the Maccabees were part of the Latin Bible. In the Protestant Chruch they were not not included amongst the canonical books. But they are part of the Apocrypha, that is, books withdrawn from holy use.
The Jewish standard of judgement was accepted, and they did not form part of the Hebrew Bible.
The first Maccabees is a simple, direct, historical narrative of the forty years' struggle from 175 to 135 B.C., from the accession of Antiochus IV (Epiphanes) to the death of Simon, the youngest of the Maccabean brothers.
The Second book of the Maccabees covers part of the same period of history, but the record is more rhetorical and ornate.
This book contains I, II, III & IV Maccabees and Psalm 151.
The Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses was originally published in Germany, in 1849.
Its author by the name of Johann Scheibel is shrouded in mystery.
The author claimed that the seals and invocations given in the book came from ancient Hebrew sources, particularly the Talmud.
It is not sure whether or not his claims were based on truth, although Talmudic scholars will probably deny that there are any references in Talmudic literature to the Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses.
While the original source of the book will probably never be ascertained, its popularity and durability can hardly be denied.
The revised edition is an attempt at the reorganization of a work, long hailed by occult masters as a valuable tool in the study and practice of cabalistic magic.

There is no doubt that this holy text must be considered as one of the most important theological reference of the Rastafari Movement. As the "King James's Bible" ; "The Promised Key" of Leonard Percival Howell ; The "Kebra Negast" or "The Royal Parchment Scroll of Black Supremacy" of Rev. Fitz Ballintine, the "Holy Piby" represent the early fondations of the rastafarian worldview.
