Isis, the devoted wife and sister of Osiris was said to have breathed life back into him after their brother Seth murdered him. To do this she used her magic powers and transformed herself into a bird (a kite). She is also the mother of Horus (a deity for the reigning King) and so is also considered to be the protector of the King.
